I spend a lot of time promoting other peoples' businesses. Today, I am going to get into a little self promotion. What I mean by this is...
Rather than spending a bunch of words, going on about how my partners and I can help you in your marketing efforts; which we can do - I want to tell you about the thing I am most passionate about.
My Family...
I have a wonderful husband, two boys and my mother has also come to live with me. I love them all very much, and strive to do only what's best for them. I am sure you can identify with the feeling.
A family of five is a challenge on one salary. Shoot, a family of three is a challenge, in this day and age. So, one of the things I feel is necessary for my family is for me to earn an income. However, it is equally important to them, for me to be at home. (My mother is disabled, and my 7 year old deals with ADHD.) Under the circumstances, working outside my home would only add insult to injury.
The solution? Why, a home based business, of course! I can work my own schedule, earn an additional income, and be available to my family whenever they need me. The question I needed an answer for [5 years ago], with so many opportunities out there, how do I decide which one is right for me?
Being that passion nurtures success, I continued on a course of, 'What would benefit my family?' This question narrowed the field a bit. I had never seen myself as, "The Avon Lady," selling Tupperware, and through the experiences of friends, knew I wanted to stay away from AmWay. Besides, I wasn't even sure that I could sell at all.
I did what most people looking for a home based business do... I surfed the Internet and filled out a million request for information forms. (I had no idea what that was going to do to my inbox either!)
I received many phone call follow ups, from people representing a whole host of different programs. I listened intently to every one of them too. None of them seemed to be, "right for me." They were either too expensive to start up, maintain, or they required me to sell stuff I wouldn't personally use. And we all know just how hard it is to sell stuff, especially if we, ourselves, don't use it.
Finally I received a call that sparked a major interest in me. I spent over an hour on the telephone listening and asking questions. By the time I was off the phone, not having made any commitments, I was excited. I wanted to know more about this company, the products, and home business opportunity. The funny thing was, that I was actually more interested in the products the company manufactures.
The products were something that my family could definitely benefit from! BULLS EYE! And after researching the company, I had totally made up my mind, that this was completely right for me!
This is why it made so much sense:
1. The company offered products that I was already spending money on. Things I refer to as daily life staples.
2. The products were made of natural ingredients, and didn't contain toxic chemicals.
3. They also cost less to use, than the products I was using. (National brand stuff)
4. The business was optional. Meaning that I didn't have to meet certain enrollment quotas every month.
5. NO RISK! There was nothing to lose.
Even if I found the business opportunity not to my liking, my family would still benefit from using the products, and I'd still win. (I'd get better, safer products that save me money.) Plus, if I didn't like the products, I could send them back for a full refund.
Here I am, four years later, having never returned a single thing! There isn't a product that I've bought that I didn't absolutely love! I also enjoy the online ordering system, and doorstep delivery. That saves me a lot of time and headache. Because, unlike some people, I hate shopping in crowded stores, with long lines.
As far as the income goes... I get paid for referring new customers. I earn a commission each time each of my referrals goes shopping. I don't have to sell products, take orders or make deliveries. I just help other people switch stores, just like I did, and I get paid. Pretty darned simple, if you ask me.
Referring other people is easy. I love the products, and once others try them, they do too. The products actually sell themselves.
Talking about something you are passionate about is not difficult at all. Think about it... We do it all the time with regard to our favorite mechanic, hairdresser, new book or movie, restaurants, recipies, etc.. So naturally, is isn't too tough to talk about your favorite toothpaste, body wash, laundry detergent, or shampoo.
Aside from making my home a healthier place to be, my success here is that I have been able to focus a home based business around my biggest passion. My whole family benefits from my business.
I have benefitted in many ways myself. Not having to work outside my home has allowed me to persue other passions as well. Things like writing and publishing, and helping others. I have more time to do the things I want to do, like sharing my story with you.
